Hip hop clothing has definitely established a niche in the fashion world and right into the heart of womens clothing (oh yeah, men's clothing too!). If you see your daughter wearing a tank top over a shirt or your son shifting from 'shorts' that extend all the way down to mid calf to jeans that have been, yes, purposely torn, do NOT panic. They have not joined any militant group. They are simply exercising their teenage right to dress up in hip hop clothes.

These are street wear clothes that should be worn with the proper... A-T-T-I-T-U-D-E.
From oversized shirts to skateboard clothes to graffiti-inspired clothing, a hip hop wardrobe reflects the culture of this generation.  a hip hop wardrobe reflects the culture of this generation. This urban culture tells us that women no longer need to wear clothes that are gender-appropriate, so to speak. This kind of clothing allows women to wear clothes that are comfortable but sexy and sometimes even clothes that are totally out-of-the-box but still come across as hip.
So the next time you see a teenager wearing hip hop clothes, don't be judgmental, you might pick up a fashion tip... or two.
