by Kacy Carr False Fashion is it for you? What you have to bear in mind when keeping up with all the newest trend is, that never once were you in the designer/s thoughts when putting his/her creation together. How many times have you cringed at styles knowing at the back of your mind how hideous you would look dressed in what was designed for the catwalk?
Top designer labels do not come cheap and can be quite expensive leaving you broke because you want to keep up with the Jones's
Ever felt stupid when attired up to nines to stop the jibes from your friends, keeping up with fashion is all well and good, but if you are not comfortable with your appearance then do something about it. Start by ignoring nasty remarks, true friends do not pass judgement unless in your favour.
It makes sense to put your own fashion ideas to use and into the bargain cost effective. Design your own label? Who knows may be your friends will want a piece of the action. Top designers started this way.
When out shopping; find a shop selling quality gear for half the price of what it would cost to dress in designer gear. You will find similar or duplicated designs to the latest craze in most stores. Is the content of your wallet/purse holding you back from making a purchase. Then get yourself to the local second hand shop and pick up a bargain.
Stick with the trend by wearing the colours in fashion. Charity shops donate to good causes, so as well as looking a million dollars you help the starving people of the world.
Uneasy with the new boob tube where the bare fleshy stomach is on full view, then narrow it down to a glimpse for the onlooker, add a little lace tassels or beads.
Belts do not do down well for the pleasantly plump, okay so we find an alternative. Gather leather strips, braid/plait them together then hang the twisted menagerie loosely around the waist add a little glitter to spice it up, this will not only look effective but complement your size.
How to get away with no boots if money is tight
Buy a closed in shoe then get a matching pair of coloured knee/ankle length socks and hey presto from a distance a pair of boots How good is that?
What is the point of expensive designer labels when the only person that gets to see that new outfit is you? all because the bank balance states 0.00 where you do not get to party till your next payday, and by then with the fashion industry as it is, the oufit may well be past its sell by date.
False fashion is what it is. Your height, weight, skin type was never taken into account by the designer unlike the rich stars. How on earth can you look your best by other folks choices? Think about it if anyone knows what will suit you? is you.

by Claire Peacock Fashion A Thing Of Beauty? Who has the time to tear around the world to visit the fashion world's hot spots? Paris, London, New York and Milan are hardly near to each other and shows go on in each place several times each year. There's always at least one young designer who is 'it' for the year and who will be in the limelight for many years to come. So, who is at the forefront of trends in the next few years? Keep an eye open for:
A la Disposition is literally shaping the fashion world with its amazing corsets. They are creating delicate shaping designs to produce a fit that is perfect for every body shape. The outer cloth will 'hug' the body while the stitching holds the fabric snugly. The combination of cut and structure from corsets of the past along with modern innovations of elegance, A la Disposition designs luxurious high fashion corsets. The corsets are made from the extraordinary weaves chosen from the best mills in Italy, England and France. Experienced needleworkers in A la Disposition's own workshops complete each corset. The only negative aspect to owning an A la Disposition creation is that your finest piece of clothing may never be seen by those who can appreciate its style and quality.
Anna Sui is a name that might sound familiar to many and will continue to be heard and recognized for many years to come. Anna Sui's start in fashion begins with an adorable story of a young girl who would dress her dolls and the neighbor's action figures for her own individualized edition of the Academy Awards. Her love of fashion blossomed as she began to design her own clothing and took pictures from magazines as her own personal inspiration. She is often quoted as referring to her collection of fashion clippings as her 'genius files'.
After school Anna worked as a stylist and in retail but she continued to design and make her own clothes. Eventually she had the confidence to enter six designs in the Boutique Show and was rewarded with an order from Macys. Anna branched out on her own, running her business through her apartment for ten years before she felt confident enough to open a boutique in the SoHo area of New York. In 1999 it was a natural progression to open a second boutique in Los Angeles. Anna's designs remain at the forefront of fashion world and she is an inspiration to absolutely everyone who comes across her.
In addition to underwear and outer wear, fashion also influences the accessories we use both personally and in our homes. One of the leading names in this area is Kate Spade who is absolutely at the cutting edge and has been since she started designing her own handbags whilst working on the Mademoiselle magazine.
Her first line was a selection of classically shaped handbags using innovative colors and fabrics. In 1993, with her husband, she launched 'Kate Spade Handbags' which have been honoured by the fashion industry for their excellent designs. Kate Spade is quite simply known as the producer of sheer elegance in accessories.

by Bridget Allen Just as fashion ebbs and flows, yesterday’s fashion ins are shut out in the cold! A true fashionista keeps careful track of what items have jumped to the out list. No one wants to be seen in a trend that expired yesterday, so if you are used to wearing trendy items, you may want to keep an eye out to see what’s out! The ever revolving door that is the fashion industry regularly makes and breaks fads in the blink of an eye. Look to your fashion magazines, cable channels that specialize in clothing and style, or great articles on the World Wide Web to determine when it is time to hang up your out clothing and accessories. What’s out this season:
1.) Say good-bye to low cut pants today
The parents of the world let out a collective sigh when the ultra low cut pant waist line was declared dead. The days of a thong peeking out from the back of your trousers are a thing of the past, so pack away your crack-baring duds for their next time around! Today’s fashionable pants still feature a lower cut that seasons past—including the popular above-the-navel waistline of the 1950s—but are well above the modesty mark than in the recent past.
2.) Personalized Items are so old school, don’t ya know
Unless that “L” on your sweater stands for Laverne, put it away! The era of personalized items, from jewelry (remember the “Carrie” necklace?) to purses to clothing is in the past. Even though you searched an hour at your local bargain basement store to find that bag with your initial embroidered in leather, it’s time to say goodbye.
3.) Newsboy Hats Are Yesterday’s News
Extra, extra, read all about it: newsboy hats are out! Put down those papers, get off the corner, and ditch the hat! Even though cooler weather has arrived, find another way to keep your head warm than covering up in a newsboy hat. Consider donning a jaunty fedora cocked to one side—it’s the latest rage!
If you are concerned about items in your wardrobe or accessory closet becoming out of date, consider purchasing classic items. Look into wardrobe staples that are permanently found on the in list, so you will not have to juggle and reevaluate your closet. Furthermore, you may find a piece of clothing or accessory that you absolutely love has been retired to the out list. Instead of giving up a favorite, consider alternative ways to turn an out into an in!
Bridget Allen has worked for many years in the fashion industry, at a senior level, and she has written an amazing totally free fashionista minicourse that will thrill, entertain, and most importantly educate you about what you absolutely need to know about fashion.

by Sher Matsen Who says what your Fashion Statement is? You of course! So make sure you devine your own fashion statement! Each of us has our own likes, dislikes comfort zones, body shape & size, and life styles. It's wonderful to pick up your favorite fashion magazine to get some great ideas. But ideas can be revamped to meet your personal tastes. Perhaps my comfort zone is a loose fit, maybe yours is a very tailored or tight fit. I like turtle necks, you've got cleavage and like to show it. Maybe your a rancher and functional is important, or an office executive where a professional look is critical. Tweeds in and you hate tweed, then don't buy tweed. Hot colors are in but your skin is washed out, then stick to the colors that look good on you but perhaps dress them up with a little color. Low rise pants are in but they aren't attractive on you, then don't buy them.
It's all wonderful and dandy for the fashion world to tell us what is in, what we should wear. But the bottom line is clothes that we buy and hang in the closet never to be warn are a waste of our money. Don't feel pressured to stay with the trends. Trends come and go. If you stick with your basics and then add a piece here and there that fits the current fashions you'll be much better off.
So pick up the popular fashion magazines like Vogue, Style, or Elle. Have a flip through. Then take what you like and use it and toss the rest away. What really matters is that you feel "good" in the look you present. When you feel good about how you look your confidence level jumps, your happier, and your positive energy flows around you.
If a pair of blue jeans with a tank top and big bold earrings is your thing then that's your fashion statement. If you like long skirts, heels, and gold jewelry then that's your fashion statement. Don't let anyone or anybody change you from who you are. Because you are your fashion statement.
Now that's not to say we can't all take a lesson or so, get the creative juices flowing, or freshen our look. The magazines are terrific ways to do just that. There are plenty of great web sites that can also be very helpful.
Don't forget accesories can spice up any outfit. Denim can be very classy with the right shoes and jewelry. Your black dress can become quite informal and fun with the right jewelry or belt. Change the entire look of an outfit with your accesories. Utilize all your wardrobe by mixing and matching pieces, jewelry, shoes, and other accesories. The more jewelry you have the more looks you can create.
You are your fashion statement. Say what you want, say it how you want, wear it how you want! If your comfortable in your look your going to show your confidence. Be you!

by Francesca Goldston Okay, I don't usually watch E! TV, and my boyfriend watches it even less, but when I went in to the living room last night, to my astonishment he was watching the TOP 50 Fashion Do's and Don'ts. The show was well done, with some wry humor here and there, and managed to keep my interest. But I was saddened by one of their fashion don'ts -- the schrunchie. Now how the hell am I going to wear my hair when I haven't washed it, or worse when I haven't gotten a haircut in six or seven months or years?
As you may have guessed, I'm no fashion guru -- never have been. There was a time in my life when I went barefoot and wore torn bell-bottoms, but those were the hippie days -- after the first couple of years, I stopped getting looks. In fact, at that time I considered anyone who followed fashion to be some sort of brainwashed, bleating sheep -- I just couldn't understand it -- the worst perpetrators of this 'Simon says' mentality were the quote unquote hippies themselves. They were supposedly going against the status quo, but wouldn't be caught dead with the 'wrong' hairdo and they always sneered at my makeshift purses too (ahem).
That being said, in my older, now wiser years, I have come to understand the desire for fashion and I appreciate it, especially if it is packaged elegantly. But I still don't have the time or money to dress well. I told you how I dressed in the 60's but, I have to confess, you'd do a double-take at some of my outfits even now, in fact, especially now. Sometimes I will be in a store, and it is only after I've gotten a couple of odd looks that I realize I'm wearing those really comfortable 'khakis' that land right above my ankle, with my socks showing and my really old and very puffy sneakers that make my feet look yet another couple sizes bigger than the 9's they are, poking out grandly.
I would have made a great guy. I really don't care when people look at me, starting at my feet and traveling incredulously up to see whose face wears these clothes. They always avert their eyes if they notice me catch them; and it's kind of funny watching them trying not to laugh, especially if they have a cohort nearby. I think it might have upset me when I was younger, though I'd have brushed it off by exclaiming how rude, how arrogant and how snobbish of them. Now I laugh and make a note to tell my sisters next time I wear these pants to their house that I wore them out to the store.

by Lynn Donn If you’re looking for something a little different, there are literally thousands of beautifully crafted unique handbags and purses available for purchase online. If you’re tired of the mass-produced offerings you tend to find at the mall, the online handbag, purse and fashion accessory market is an exciting and exotic new world. The variety of unique handbag and purse designs keeps getting bigger, better and more innovative all the time, but as with every kind of fashion accessory, interesting trends emerge with every new season. Here is a brief rundown of what’s coming in unique purses and handbags in 2006.
Cloth Purses
Cloth purses are very casual fashion items, so colorful fabrics and whimsical patterns are the strongest trend. If you love bold colors and striking contrasts you’ll have a great time shopping for cloth purses this season.
A cloth purse is mostly a spring/summer fashion accessory, so expect to see warm colors, and light breezy cotton or nylon fabrics. Fresh, summery patterned fabrics with flowers, fruits and ladybugs are always popular.
Also very fashionable is the clever and practical reversible cloth purse. You can literally turn the purse inside out to reveal the alternative fabric pattern, so you have two purses in one.
Monogrammed handbags
Monogrammed bags and purses never really go out of style, and this season we’ll see a huge range of colors, shapes sizes and styles.
A strong upcoming trend is leather sling hipster handbags with elegantly embossed initials or a name. Soft leather is a beautiful fabric for handbags because it’s durable, always very stylish, and it goes with everything. Sling handbags are very comfortable to carry, and perfect either for business or as a casual accessory.
Monogrammed tote bags
Tote bags are the most casual fashion accessory of all, and perfect for the beach, for picnics, or for a little shopping. Monogrammed tote bags are also great for kids to carry their school books or gym clothes, and having their initials or name printed on the bag means they won’t lose it.
Soft cotton canvas is the classic fabric for tote bags, and we’ll see an abundance of canvas tote bags this season.
The big trend for monogrammed tote bags will be big initials, printed across the whole side panel of the bag in big, bold colors. A single first initial of your first name as a monogram has a casual, whimsical kind of feel.
Dog purses
Everyone loves dogs, which is why the fashion for handbags, tote bags and purses decorated with a full panel photo of a gorgeous dachshund, poodle, beagle, yorkie or dalmatian just keeps getting stronger and stronger every year. Dog purses are a great gift idea for anyone whose best friend is their beloved hound.
Custom-made dog purses are also becoming more and more popular. You can have your own photograph of your dog printed onto a handbag, so your bag, like your dog, will be truly one of a kind.
Photo purses
Photo purses are simply ultra-cool, and the most individual and personal of fashion statements. You can have your own photo of anything you like printed onto a purse or handbag, like a special person in your life, your cat, dog or bird, or even your car.
A very trendy idea is to use a romantic old photograph of a relative as a model for your photo purse, so you can cherish their memory wherever you go.
Initial purses
Initial purses are a fashion accessory with a personal touch, and they make wonderful gifts. You can have just about any kind of purse printed, embroidered or embossed with a single initial or set of two or three initials in a wide variety of styles.
As for handbags, leather will be a big trend in the upcoming season for purses. We’ll see lots of small leather purses with a comfortable sling shoulder strap, elegantly embossed with two or three initials.
Cigar box purses
Cigar box purses are another strong trend for the coming year. They’re literally made from a wooden cigar box, fitted with a clasp and a handle, and embossed with an artistic or photographic image.
The most fashionable cigar box purses are decorated with advertising images from the glamorous 1920’s and 30’s. European advertising artwork from that period has a particularly elegant and alluring style, so we’ll be seeing a lot of Cinzano, Cognac and French Perfume labels on cigar box purses.
Hobo purses
Hobo purses can be cool and casual for shopping, or groovy and glamorous to go with evening wear.
Casual style hobo purses come in suede or leather, and soft colors like pastel pinks, beige, cream and white are very much in vogue.
A new look for hobo purses which is on the way in is a small purse in a gold or silver mesh fabric, or even ultra-glamorous sequins and rhinestones. These purses are a new take on the traditional evening purse, and make an eye-catching alternative.
Clutch handbags
Clutch purses and handbags have an elegant, streamlined look, but they’re the perfect size to carry all those little necessities.
The big look for clutch purses and clutch handbags in the coming year will be all glamour. Shiny metallic gold, silver, bronze and platinum shades will be the strong colors of the season, in soft suede leather.

by Frederic Madore What’s the skinny on fashion these days? And anyway, what really is fashion? Is it what happens to be in style this season? Is it the short skirts, the hip boots, or the funny little hats? Let’s take off the fake, and look at what fashion really means to most people. Fashion is as judgmental as our list of desired characteristics in a mate. What one person purports to be the most necessary piece in the wardrobe, might not be deemed worthy for a foot rug by another. Fashion is one of the most fickle friends a girl (or guy) can have. It comes, it goes, sometimes we fit, and sometimes we just want to hide.
Fashion, as defined by Webster’s dictionary, is “the popular or up-to-date way of dressing, speaking or behaving”. Well, if that’s the case, there are times I want no part of fashion. I believe fashion goes much deeper than that simple statement. I think fashion encompasses more of our personality, our likes or dislikes, and when done “fashionably” reflects a lot about the kind of person we are.
Every year, we see fashion dos and don’ts. We watch them come and we watch them go. And then, every fifty years or so, we watch them swing back around for one more tromp down the fashion runway. Here’s the really funny part: There is always someone you know, that just happens to have retained an “original” piece from the first pass.
The most noticeable thing about current fashion “faus paux” (thought I’d throw that “fashionable” word in, just for good measure) is that any color is acceptable against any other color. No longer do we worry about wearing reds with pinks, or light green against dark green. Today, we wear ANYTHING. I’ve even noticed in some places, they wear the fashion of the moment “painted” on their naked bodies. Now, that’s really comfortable fashion!
Also, we no longer worry about coordinating our shoes with our outfit. Now tell me truthfully, do you really think my New Balance tennis shoes compliment this little black dress? When I was a small child, my mother carefully mixed and matched her clothes and her shoes. Fashion was a word she took very seriously. When wearing a nice Sunday dress, she always chose her nice Sunday heels; not today. Today, you’re just as likely to see a beautiful little strapless number accompanied by a beautiful pair of the latest flip-flops!
As for the few consumers who still fit into the category of “stylishly fashionable”, you must be extremely careful on your next trip to the outlet mall. Finding fashions that I, or my other middle-aged friends would actually like to buy, is like finding a needle in a haystack. I decided a couple of weeks ago, that I needed a new outfit for just a little afternoon get-together. Nothing expensive, or fancy. I just needed a coordinated little outfit for summer attire. This, apparently, is as easy to find as the Holy Grail.
So, as fashions come, and fashions go, I will hope for a return to the days of stylish coordination, when it was fashionable to be well-dressed, and even polite!

by Marsha Maung You’re a mom and you’re still thinking about being ‘fashionable’? That’s the kind of response I got from someone I went shopping with. All I did was go shopping with this mom and when we passed a fashion outlet selling fashionable clothing and apparel, I commented that I wanted to get that frilly pink top with splashes of lime green that is flying off the shelves with a 70% discount tag! Is it wrong to be a mom and still want to be fashionable? In my personal opinion, there’s absolutely NOTHING WRONG with wanting to be a fashionable mom! Being mom doesn’t mean that we have to give up our rights to being fashionable, beautiful and healthy. Being mom doesn’t mean that our lives and the entire focus of living has shifted from ‘us’ to ‘family’. Of course, without a smidgen of a doubt, being mom zaps your energy and any mom with a sense of fashion can tell you that it takes a lot to be a fashionable mom.
It already takes so much effort to dress up the kids…imagine trying to find time matching fashionable tops with fashionable skirts…and then find the blasted fashionable handbag with the same color and tone to go with the same-colored fashionable shoes! What an effort!
When we used to be single, trying to be in fashion didn’t used to be such an effort, did it? In fact, pulling out fashionable clothing off the shelves and donning them seems to come so naturally to most of us when we are young and LOOKING! Now that we’re not looking anywhere else but at our kids, we find it such an effort just to be fashionable?
And yet, being a fashionable mom is still possible! ABSOLUTELY! All it takes is some effort, planning and some common sense. And work at it!!

by Jeff Lakie Summer is here already and so are the new shoe fashions! If you like hot new colors and styles, you're in for a real treat this season. The stores' shelves are lined with vivid prints and a variety of textiles, certain to suit your every mood. Here is a short guide to help you navigate the shoe racks this summer. Metallics have finally made a comeback this season. Bright golds and cool silvers are being challenged by bright metallic pinks and blues and it seems that every type of shoe imaginable is adorned with sequins or cheerful beads. Skimmers and ballet-inspired shoes are still all the rage and are now available in a variety of fabrics and patterns, sure to go with all of your new bohemian-inspired tops and skirts.
As always, sandals are summer favourites. This year they come in a variety of styles and colors, from sporty and fun to chic and sophisticated. Flip-flops are popular again and can make a cool change from the traditional sandal, unless, of course, you are the sporty type, in which case a breezy pair of comfortable hiking sandals would be just the thing.
Men shouldn't shy away from footwear trends this season. There is an assortment of sophisticated sandals available for all of you guys out there. The Sob sandals are a great addition to the summer shoe line-up. They're cool and comfortable, for even the most active men. Another popular sandal is the Lagoon sandal, which comes in a wide variety of trendy colors, like blues and greens.
The summer is also the time for formal occasions, like graduations and weddings. There are plenty of different fashions out there, from simple and elegant flats to breath-taking stilettos. Like the casual shoes and the costume jewellery this season, formal footwear are also adorned with chunky beads and sequins, certain to make those hot summer formals sparkle and sizzle.
With so many different styles and colors of summer shoes to choose from, the hardest decision might just be where to store them all!

by Terrica R Skaggs Getting Diva-fied: Picking the Perfect Dress for Your Wedding You’ve dreamt of this day since the days of Barbie and Ken—now that it is finally here, the possibilities are endless! Okay, so you can’t go down aisle with your mother’s satin sham as a veil with her formal lace tablecloth trailing behind as a train. We know. We asked.
But what you can do is assess the body you have now, prepare for the body you want on your wedding and pick the dress that has been waiting for you every since you said, “Yes!”
Before we get into all of the sizes, cuts and adornments on gowns, let’s get the basic and necessary fundamentals out of the way:
? Never, ever put a deposit down or pay for a gown when you have not confirmed the date of the wedding. A lot of brides, with their rose colored glasses, even start buying gowns at the mere mention of the marriage. Slow down—don’t put the cart before the horse on this one. It is quite likely that in your rush to make things “real” for you, you could put a big dent in your wedding budget. It happens quite often: you may not even like the wedding gown that you chose in April for your confirmed wedding in December. Don’t get me wrong, window shopping is great—but you have bigger fish to fry, so don’t shell out any money before you have the ring…and a date!
? Never, ever crash diet or buy a gown sizes smaller with the expectation of losing weight. It is far easier to take a gown in, than it is to have it customized and then taken out if you don’t meet your goal. Don’t put unrealistic expectations on your plate. You have enough to deal with. If weight is an issue for you, I strongly suggest that utilize the services of a personal trainer. We have a Buff Brides package that allows you to work with a personal trainer to get your body the way you want it—not only for your wedding, but for life! Be realistic: there is no way you can go (intelligently and safely) from a size 20 to a 4 in a year. I don’t care what anyone says. Embrace yourself for who and what you are, and work with what you’ve got!
Now that we’ve got that out of the way, let’s talk shop!
There are many things to consider when choosing the perfect gown—color, your complexion, size, cut, and the formality of your event. The latter is something I think a lot of brides forget to associate with their gown and wedding. As strange as it might seem, there are brides that will choose an ultra-formal gown for their Sunday Brunch garden wedding.
Again, this is the first step of self-acceptance and a big dose of reality. Take your measurements. What are you—short, tall, pear-shaped, or thin? Be honest with yourself. While the gowns you see online in magazines and books are gorgeous, it is always best that you try them on. As a former model, I will tell you—it takes a lot to get into those gowns, mainly smoke and mirrors! There is tape, more tape, airbrushing, invisible corsets, and more that you don’t even see. So while you may like the gown on the model, it doesn’t necessarily mean it will look the same on you. While it would be nice if we were all shaped like J. Lo or Rene Russo, the sad truth is that many of us aren’t. However, that doesn’t mean you cannot find the perfect gown.
Take a look…
If you are:
? Top Heavy—we need to create an illusion of balance and length with you. Let’s choose a full, billowing skirt with plenty of adornments and an elongated bodice. However, we should avoid (at all costs!) any extra ornamentation on the bodice. It will draw too much attention to your chest. The same goes for low necklines, full sleeves and empire style dresses. Ask me how I know ?
? Short—in your case, my petite friend, we will steer clear of any design that will accentuate your stature. Instead, create an illusion of height with an empire waistline. High necklines and trim along the neck and shoulders also look absolutely fabulous on your frame. If you are going formal, try short sleeves with long gloves.
? Pear Shaped—in this instance, you are narrow in the torso and fuller in the hips and thighs. Shoot for a bodice that is textured and bejeweled. You are the opposite of our top heavy bride, so you need to bring attention to the bodice and away from the waistline and below. Accentuate the waist in a simple skirt instead.
? Tall—for you, my statuesque beauty, I love the high fashion look of tiers and flounces to balance your height. Look for bodices with low, ornamented necklines.
? Full-Figured—you should avoid the flounces and tiers suggested above and contrasting colors. Instead, opt for a princess style gown that will skim the body. Necklines with a V or U shape are best, especially when accompanied by an A line skirt.
? Thin—you also look great in princess style gowns or gowns with a Basque waist and full skirt. Bloused bodices with a gathered skirt are also great options for you.
After you confirm your shape, the next task is to consider your complexion. It is important, even if you intend to tan, to understand that your hues will determine what will flatter your appearance best, live and in photos. Darker complexioned brides and brides with dark hair look best in beautiful, bright whites. Blondes and redheads are stunning in creamy and silk whites. This is also true for porcelain-skinned brunettes. If you would like to throw in a bit of color to your dress, look for those with undertones of pink or coral—they flatter all brides.
Now consider the formality of your event:
? Formal to Ultra-formal: Your gown should be cut from a rich fabric (silk chiffon in the summer, satin in the winter). You can have a full skirt with a train. Remember, the longer the aisle, the longer the train!
? Semiformal: Your gown should at least be full length or your train should sweep the floor. For this type of occasion, bare shoulders and taffeta type skirts are considered acceptable.
? Informal: Because of the flexibility of your wedding, you have the most choices with out restrictions or provisos. You can look for a ballerina or floor length type skirt to a dressy suit. Designers such as Jovani and Faviana make beautiful prom dresses that could pass as wedding gowns. Your possibilities are endless!
With the national average of a dress pricing with in the range of $1000, you can expect to spend a reasonable portion of your budget towards your attire. There are several ways you can cut costs, but that’s a whole different article altogether!

by Claire Calkin When someone decides to select and buy their clothes online they are opening up the doors to a wide world of choices that include the latest fashions, hard to find pieces and discounted rates. Avoid the rush and discomfort of shopping at a mall by shopping at home and spend more time relaxing with family and friends. If you have a formal engagement coming up, don’t hit the shops and elbow your way to the perfect top in your size. Choose online for the latest styles and colors with a large stockpile of your favourite size. Finding clothes to it your body perfectly can be quite daunting. There are so many things to consider that includes fabrics, colors, styles, cuts and contouring. It can be quite easy to finding a perfect outfit by sticking to some simple rules. Don’t get caught out by what your friends think when you are trying clothes on, they may think they are doing good but they won’t be the one spending vast amounts on clothes that may only be worn once. Trust your own instinct and listen but don’t base your decisions on the advice of others. To ensure you have a great shopping experience while on the Internet, we recommend the following tips. If you feel comfortable wearing heels, choose shoes with a 1inch heel and notice how dramatically taller and slimmer you appear. Get you bra refitted every few years to ensure your bras fit comfortable and won’t cling or hang from you. Underwear shouldn’t be tight or too loose; this can create unwanted lines and make your clothes hang incorrectly. When creating a wardrobe select the clothes that favour the shape of your body and build your style around these cuts, fabrics and colors. If you have wide shoulders avoid boatneck tops otherwise this shirt can be used to accentuate a bustline or contour the waist.
Handbags and accessories are another issue altogether. With such a variety of sizes, colors and styles there is always that wide belt or large handbag to flatter shape. Clothes should always fit with the accessories but not always be too matching as this can create a bland look. If you don’t like accessories brushing against your body, go for a strapless handbag. Belts can be used to contour waist. Rather large belts can cut the body in half, avoid this look if you think it is unflattering. The latest fashions are not always best. There are so many color, cuts to consider and they won’t fit you everytime. Choose selectively or buy clothes that resemble clothes you already have. Colors are a great way to show off or hide parts of the body. Bright clothing can attract and are great as a top to highlight a favourite asset. The same applies to dark colors; these can be used to flatter your bum or waist. Create a look that will leave a lasting impression by mix and matching the fabrics of your clothing while keeping the color the same shade. This creates a funky look that won’t be bulky or uncomfortable. Remember to avoid clingy or baggy clothing, as these will distort your figure.
Keep these tips in mind when you are next browsing the online shopping sites. Have an eye out for clearances and sales but be ware that they are on sale for a reason. Create a look that is timeless and practical rather than expensive and ‘gotta have that now look.’ Select your clothes online, draw up a wishlist then step instore for fast shopping or order online for convenient and fast delivery straight to your door. Shop around to be sure you have value for money as many stores have similar styles at a cheaper price.

by Amy Chou If finding women’s plus size clothing is difficult, then finding them at bargain prices is an even greater challenge. To get the best deals on plus size clothes, consider shopping online, at local stores, and through mail-order catalogs. The following are eight strategies for saving money: - Visit local stores that carry plus size clothing and browse through their clearance racks. Some local retailers try to quickly rid their racks of excessive inventory to make room for the latest fashion.
- Purchase items that coordinate well with what you already have in your wardrobe in terms of styling and color.
- Go to the website of your favorite plus size retailer and sign up to receive e-mail specials. In addition, if the sign-up form offers a print catalog, request the catalog also. By signing up, you will receive notifications through e-mails and catalogs of any specials the retailer may be having. Note that you should sign up only with retailers that really interest you or your mailbox may become crammed with excessive e-mails.
- Look for a sale, clearance, or outlet section on the website of your favorite retailer. Occasionally, you can save up to 80% off original prices this way. If your retailer is owned by a parent company, also check the parent company’s website for a clearance or outlet section.
- Comparison shop for similar items at different websites. If you plan to wear an item only a few times or occasionally, perhaps you can purchase a similar but cheaper item.
- Buy clothing out-of-season or pre-season. Many retailers will offer steep discounts on out-of-season items.
- Buy machine-washable clothes. The cost of having to dry clean an item will make that item expensive in the long run. If you are not sure whether an item is machine-washable, be sure to ask the retailer before you buy.
- Always use a search engine to look for a coupon code your retailer may have. Many websites actually track these coupon codes along with expiration dates to help shoppers save. When filling out your order form online or in a catalog, look for an entry for “coupon code” or “promo code” and then enter a coupon code that applies. If ordering online, be sure to verify that you have received the discount for entering the coupon code.
Using the above strategies will help you save on plus size clothing. Dressing well should not have to be an expensive endeavor for the full-figured woman.
